AIIMS Raipur stated that there is an 84 percent of positivity rate for Human Enteroviruses. This specific data has been collected through research done by AIIMS Raipur. The Department of Ophthalmology at AIIMS Raipur went through research from August 1 to August 10 where they gathered 30 suspected samples of viral conjunctivitis.
They collected conjunctival swabs in the sterile VTM and then transferred those samples for further diagnosis to the state-level VRD lab in AIIMS Raipur’s Microbiology Department. They confirmed that out of 30 patients, 26 conjunctivitis patients of the study were from different districts of Chhattisgarh.
And the rest 4 were from Kerala, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Haryana. Those samples from the conjunctivitis patients went through Human Adenoviruses, Human Enteroviruses, Varicella Zoster Virus, and Herpes Simplex Viruses tests.
And the results show that 84 percent of positivity rate for Human Enteroviruses. Out of those 21 positive patients, only 4 were female and 17 were male. This research was done under the authorization of the head of the department Dr. Anudita Bhargava and Dr. Sanjay Singh Negi with the important contribution of an expert team.
